PISTACHIO

Pistachio is one of the major exports by Iran following crude oil export. According to FAO, the area under the cultivation of pistachio has increased to 429,535 thousand hectares in 2017 from 378,181 hectares in 2016.

Pistachios are Iran’s most valuable export crop, and, along with walnuts, account for nearly a billion dollars of agricultural sales overseas. (Quoted from Financial Tribune 8-10-2020)

IRAN: The Leader in the world in Almond Production

IRAN: Iranian Grape Production on the Rise

Around The grape-vine is probably the oldest and best known of the cultivated fruit plants grown in Iran. Over 40 different types of grapes are harvested across the country. Grape harvesting areas in Iran are Fars, Qazvin, Khorasan Razavi, Hamadan, West Azerbaijan, East Azerbaijan, Zanjan, North Khorasan, Kurdistan, Central and Semnan provinces. IRAN: 30% Growth Expected in Iran Date Production

Date production is expected to reach 1.2 million tons in the current fiscal year to register an over 30% growth compared with last year, the chairman of the National Association of Iranian Dates said.

“We owe this increase in production to favorable climate this year,” Mohsen Rashid Farrokhi was also quoted as saying by Young Journalists Club.

According to the official, date exports earned Iran more than $500 million last year. Siamak Shahriari, a senior member of Dried Fruits and Nuts Exporters’ Association, said 70-80% of dates produced in Iran are consumed domestically and 20-30% are exported. (Quoted from Daily Pioneer 3-12-2019)

IRAN: The Red Gold from Harvest to Export

A GHAYENAT, Dec. 16 (MNA) – Iran’s South Khorasan is the leading province in producing the highest quality saffron in the world. Known as the ‘red gold’ because of being the most expensive spice, South Khorasan’s saffron has many customers from Germany, USA, Spain, and the Persian Gulf littoral states.

Qayen County in South Khorasan, the eastern province of Iran is the main hub for producing the best saffron in the world. Qayen’s saffron is famous for its unique aroma and strong color and has many customers in many countries such as Germany, the US, Spain, and the Persian Gulf states.
