IRAN: Global pistachio market is dominated by Iran
Mahmoud Abtahi told Iran Daily that although the US is trying to grab a share of the global pistachio market in recent years, Iran’s high quality product has been able to attract more buyers. News of January 2019
He put the annual pistachio exports of Iran and the US at 160,000 tons and 200,000 tons respectively in recent years.

IRAN: Iranian grape production on the rise
Iran is the third largest exporter of raisin in the world by exporting more than 150,000 metric tons (27% global Consumption) of raisins worth around 250 million dollars annually.
There are different varieties of Iranian Raisins; Sultana Raisins (Superior Qualily-Dark color), sultana minerals (Light color – Malayer) Golden Raisins, Black Raisins and Green Raisins. IRAN: Iran exports $403m worth of dates in one year
Speaking to Islamic Republic News Agency, Kaveh Zargaran said that Iran’s exports of dates have grown by 20 percent over the past year. He said that dates are among the most important garden products of Iran after pistachio, apple and saffron.
Iran exported more than 253000 tons of dates valued at $250. Iran exports of dates grew by 21% in terms of weight and 20% in term of value in the one-year period compared to the preceding year, Zargaran said, adding that almost 58% of the product are exported to India, Pakistan, Kazakhestan, Turley and Iraq. IRAN: Iran is a major leader in Fig production in the world
An official with Iran’s Agriculture Ministry said that Iran is the fourth major fig producer in the world. The General Director of Tropical and Subtropical Fruits Department of Agriculture Ministry, Masoud Latifian, said that Iran is producing some 80,000 tons of figs per annum and ranks fourth in world’s fig production. Egypt and Morocco are the second and third big producers of fig while Algeria, Greece, Syria, the US and Spain stand below Iran in this ranking. (Quoted from Mehrnews 12-1-2019)

IRAN: Saffron output increases 15%
Production of saffron in Iran since the beginning of current Iranian calendar year (March 21, 2018) stands at 400 tons which is 15 percent more than the figure of the previous year’s same period, according to the vice chairman of National Saffron Council. Gholamreza Miri also said that saffron export has risen 46 percent during the first eight months of the current calendar year (March 21-November 21, 2018) compared to the same time span of the previous year, Mehr news agency reported on Monday.
Iran’s exports of saffron increased about 55 percent in the past Iranian calendar year compared to its preceding year, breaking the record of exports in the past ten years. According to Kaveh Zargaran, the chairman of the Agricultural Committee at the Tehran Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mine and Agriculture (TCCIMA), some 236 tons of saffron worth over $326 million were exported to the destination markets in the mentioned period. UAE, Hong Kong, Spain, Afghanistan and China were the top importers of Iranian saffron while the top three namely UAE, Hong Kong and Spain accounted for over 77 percent of the total exports, Zargaran said.
